Ford's Fathom EV Nears Production for 2027 Launch
Ford announced its next-generation Fathom EV will enter production in early 2027 at its Louisville Assembly Plant. Prototype building and pre-tooling are underway at the revamped facility.
Ford plans to begin production of its next-generation electric vehicle, the Fathom, in the first quarter of 2027. The automaker will build the new EV at its Louisville Assembly Plant, which has undergone a significant overhaul to accommodate electric vehicle manufacturing.
The production facility, over 70 years old, is currently in the pre-tooling phase for the Fathom. Ford employees are working on building prototypes for the vehicle, collaborating with teams at Ford's New Model Product Development Center in Dearborn, Michigan.
Workers involved in the hand-building of the Fathom prototypes will also participate in the vehicle's production phase. This approach aims to ensure a seamless transfer of knowledge from the development stages to the assembly line.
The Fathom is expected to be priced around $28,000. The launch represents a key step in Ford's ongoing electrification strategy and its expansion into the competitive EV market.
