Foremay, Inc. announced the EC188 D-Series PCIe SSD, featuring read/write speeds up to 1,500/1,300 MB/s and a capacity of up to 4 TB.

Fremont, California – Foremay, Inc. has introduced the EC188 D-Series solid state drive (SSD), utilizing a PCI Express interface. The drive offers sequential read speeds of up to 1,500 MB/s and write speeds up to 1,300 MB/s, with capacities reaching 4 terabytes.
The EC188 D-Series is designed for desktop computers, workstations, and servers equipped with x8 and x16 PCIe slots. Foremay states the drive aims to address storage bottlenecks in demanding applications such as full HD video editing, HDTV recording, high-end gaming, and enterprise server workloads.
"Only a few OEMs supply PCIe SSDs in today’s market," said Jason Hoover, Foremay’s vice president of marketing. "We are excited to launch our EC188 D-Series PCIe card solid state drive which provides more choices for the SSD market. In addition to enterprise class performance, our EC188 D-Series also provides greater value to our customers with our continuous cost reduction efforts."
The drive supports a range of operating systems, including Windows 7, Vista, XP, Mac OS X, Solaris, Linux, and UNIX. Other features include power outage protection, dual PCIe configuration via a built-in RAID controller, and active garbage collection. Initial shipments are available in small quantities, with volume production expected in the first quarter of 2010.
