Foremay, Inc. has announced the EC188 D-series PCIe SSD (Solid State Drive). The drive delivers up to 200,000 random read IOPS and 180,000 random write IOPS. Read and write speeds reach 1.6 GB/s and 1.5 GB/s, respectively. The device offers capacities up to 4 TB.

The new SSD is designed for servers, workstations, and desktops utilizing PCIe slots. It aims to address storage bottlenecks in I/O-intensive applications, such as enterprise servers, studio workstations, and high-speed computing environments. This addresses the need for faster data access in demanding computing tasks.

Dr. Jack Winters, Foremay's CTO, stated that high IOPS performance is a critical factor for today's high-end servers and workstations. The company believes the EC188 D-series can help resolve performance issues in applications where speed is a bottleneck.

The EC188 D-series PCIe cards support a variety of operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS X, Solaris, and Linux. They also include a built-in PCIe RAID controller for added scalability or redundancy.

Small quantities of the EC188 D-series PCIe SSDs are now shipping, with volume production expected to begin in March 2010. Foremay, Inc., founded in 2002, focuses on high-reliability solid-state drives for critical computing applications.
