Former England player Danny Mills educates veteran footballers on knee treatment
Former England and Leeds footballer Danny Mills visited Castleford Academy to discuss knee health and introduce a new treatment option for veteran players of the sport.

Former England international footballer Danny Mills attended an event at Castleford Academy in West Yorkshire to promote knee health among local veteran footballers. Over 30 players from grassroots and veteran teams participated in a training session focused on sports injuries and skill refinement.
The event, organized by Contura Orthopaedics, aimed to educate players on knee issues, which are particularly common among older athletes. The training session included guidance on reducing knee strain and lowering the risk of injury. Additionally, clinician Dr. George Bownes presented Arthrosamid®, an injectable hydrogel implant offering long-lasting pain relief for knee osteoarthritis without surgery.
Mills, who has personally experienced long-term knee pain and received Arthrosamid® treatment in summer 2025, shared his experiences, emphasizing the treatment's benefits for maintaining an active lifestyle. He highlighted the importance of long-term health and alternative solutions for managing knee pain.
Rakesh Tailor, CEO of Contura Orthopaedics, expressed gratitude to Castleford Academy for providing a suitable environment to discuss knee health within the football community. The company aims to offer a non-surgical alternative for knee pain, particularly for former athletes, through its Arthrosamid® product.
