Former Fire Battalion Chief Michael McNeil Launches Safety Consulting Firm
Michael Karl McNeil, leveraging 25 years of fire service command, has established McNeil Safety Consulting to offer expertise in industrial hygiene, workplace safety, and legal expert services.

Michael Karl McNeil, a former Fire Battalion Chief, has launched McNeil Safety Consulting, a firm dedicated to providing expert services in industrial hygiene, workplace safety, Cal/OSHA citation defense, and forensic consulting. With a quarter-century of experience in fire service, including roles in incident command and hazardous materials response, McNeil aims to bring his practical expertise to employers and attorneys across the United States.
McNeil's career began in 1989, progressing through various roles from volunteer firefighter and inspector to Fire Prevention Captain and, ultimately, Fire Battalion Chief for a federal fire agency. His background includes extensive involvement in wildland and all-hazard incidents, holding critical command and operations positions, and demonstrating proficiency in fire prevention and hazardous materials management.
The consulting firm will focus on applying McNeil's command experience to industrial hygiene exposure assessments, emergency action and fire prevention planning, hazardous materials programs, and safety for battery energy storage systems. McNeil also holds professional designations including Registered Environmental Professional (REP) and Registered Industrial Hygienist (RIH).
"The fire service teaches you to read a hazard before it becomes an incident," McNeil stated. "That is the same discipline I bring to a jobsite, a warehouse or an expert report. Employers and attorneys get someone who has stood on the fire ground and in command, not only someone who has read the standard."
