Formula 1 Leverages AWS for Most Competitive Season
Formula 1 is enhancing its data analytics with Amazon Web Services to boost competitiveness. The cloud technology processes millions of data points per race into compelling storytelling.

Formula 1 (F1) has significantly amplified its competitive edge through a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), focusing on cloud technology and data analytics. This collaboration aims to transform the sport by leveraging data, with the 2024 season showcasing its potential by processing 300 million data points per race.
The technology provided by AWS enables sophisticated artificial intelligence and machine learning models, translating raw data into understandable narratives for fans. This has been crucial in increasing the tightness of competition, exemplified by the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix qualifying session where the gap between first and twentieth place in the entire field was a mere 0.798 seconds.
When an entire field is separated by just over one percent, every aspect of performance becomes critical. The difference between winning and losing comes down to driver skill, team execution, and the ability to leverage data for even the smallest marginal gains. F1 and AWS have been innovating together since 2018.
