Fortum and TVO to provide expert services for Poland's nuclear power program
Fortum and Teollisuuden Voima (TVO) have signed a two-year framework agreement with Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ), Poland's state-owned nuclear power company. The agreement will provide expert services for the development of operations and maintenance processes for Poland's first nuclear power plant.
Nordic energy company Fortum, along with Finnish utility Teollisuuden Voima (TVO), will provide expert services to support Poland's development of its first nuclear power plant. PEJ, the Polish state-owned company responsible for the project, has signed a two-year framework agreement with Fortum and TVO Nuclear Services.
The scope of the agreement includes providing technical support for the licensing and design phases of the new nuclear facility. It will also focus on helping PEJ develop its internal capabilities to become a future operator of the power plant. Both Fortum and TVO bring decades of experience in nuclear power ownership and operation to the partnership.
Poland's nuclear power program aims to construct up to 3,750 MW of capacity using Generation III(+) pressurized water reactors, viewing nuclear energy as a key component of its energy transition and decarbonization strategy. Fortum has over 40 years of experience across the nuclear power plant lifecycle, while TVO Nuclear Services offers consultation on new builds and asset life-cycle management.
This collaboration expands Fortum and TVO's international reach in the nuclear sector and supports Poland's strategic energy objectives.
