Fortum completes annual maintenance outages at Loviisa nuclear power plant
Fortum has concluded the 2026 annual maintenance outages at the Loviisa nuclear power plant. Both reactor units have returned to the grid to resume electricity production.

Fortum has finalized the scheduled 2026 maintenance outages at its Loviisa nuclear power plant, with both units now back in service. The maintenance cycle involved replacing approximately one-quarter of the fuel assemblies in both reactors, alongside comprehensive safety inspections and equipment modernization.
Unit 2 underwent an extended eight-year inspection outage, a significant technical review involving reactor pressure tests and critical system maintenance. These measures are designed to ensure the operational safety and longevity of the facility.
The completion of these outages returns both units to full production capacity. Regular maintenance remains a standard operational requirement to ensure the reliability of the plant’s electricity generation throughout the year.
