FP Corporation reports profit decline amid rising raw material costs
Packaging manufacturer FP Corporation reported a second-quarter operating profit of 5.1 billion yen, a 32 percent drop compared to the previous year.

FP Corporation saw its earnings decline during the second quarter of the fiscal year, despite a modest revenue increase. Sales rose 1.8 percent to 80.5 billion yen, but the company struggled with a significant rise in raw material costs and delays in passing these expenses on to customers through price adjustments. The resulting profit for the period stood at 5.1 billion yen, down from 7.5 billion yen in the same period last year.
The company faced a challenging economic environment characterized by rising energy prices and currency fluctuations. While FP Corporation attempted to offset these pressures through internal cost-reduction efforts and product weight optimization, the roughly 1.8 billion yen increase in raw material expenses proved too substantial to absorb fully.
To support future operations, the company continues to invest in its logistics network. New distribution centers in Kyushu and Kansai began operations during the quarter, with further construction projects underway in Hachioji and Fukuyama. The company also maintained its focus on product development, investing 576 million yen into R&D activities, particularly regarding the expansion of its recycled PET product lines.
