France and UK Discuss Nuclear Energy at Bilateral Summit
A Franco-British Bilateral Summit on March 10, 2023, focused on nuclear energy cooperation. Assystem highlighted the importance of cross-channel collaboration for new nuclear projects.

The Franco-British Bilateral Summit, held on March 10, 2023, prioritized discussions on nuclear energy. A seminar on the subject, chaired by the energy ministers from both nations and attended by key industry players, emphasized collaboration across the channel.
Assystem's Deputy CEO Stéphane Aubarbier called for enhanced international cooperation during the seminar. He stressed the need to improve the capacity of both the British and French nuclear industries to deliver projects by strengthening collaboration, seizing opportunities on both sides of the channel, and developing expertise.
Both nations have ambitious civil nuclear programs. The UK aims to deploy 24GW of nuclear capacity by 2050, while France plans to construct up to 14 new reactors within the same timeframe. The countries possess a history of cooperation in nuclear energy.
Assystem, a major independent nuclear company with over 6,500 experts, actively supports the deployment of new large-scale civil nuclear projects in both countries and globally. In the UK, the company has been involved with the Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C projects. In France, Assystem has supported EDF in the construction and maintenance of nuclear power plants.
