Fraudulent emails impersonating Rundfunkbeitrag
Fraudulent emails are circulating again, claiming to collect unpaid broadcasting fees. The messages are neither from the authority nor the company Infoscore.
Fraudulent emails are once again circulating, falsely claiming to represent Infoscore Forderungsmanagement GmbH in an attempt to collect unpaid broadcasting fees. These emails are forgeries and do not originate from the Beiträgeservice or Infoscore Forderungsmanagement GmbH.
The messages primarily target non-private contributors, such as companies and institutions, demanding payment of a purported outstanding fee of €5.86 and threatening legal action for non-payment. Recipients are strongly advised not to click on any links within these emails, as they may contain malware.
Several indicators can help identify these fakes. They often use generic salutations like "Dear Customer," lack specific account numbers, and feature sender email addresses with suspicious domain names. The sender's name might also vary within the email body.
This is not the first instance of such fraudulent activity; similar scam emails were reported in January 2020. Individuals and organizations are urged to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of any such demands before taking action.
