Fraunhofer to showcase robotics and automation advancements at automatica 2025

The Fraunhofer Institute is set to participate in automatica 2025, the leading trade fair for intelligent automation and robotics, taking place in Munich from June 24-27.

The institute will be showcasing several advancements across its various research branches. Fraunhofer IFF will demonstrate developed cognitive robotics capabilities designed to handle complex manufacturing tasks previously difficult to automate. Furthermore, they will introduce new safety technologies enabling close human-robot collaboration, even with AI-driven robotic movements.

Fraunhofer IFF is also highlighting its work on automated disassembly of electronic devices through the "iDEAR" project. This initiative focuses on robotic solutions for the non-destructive dismantling of electronic equipment, supporting remanufacturing and material recycling within a circular economy framework.

The exhibition will also feature innovative thin-film sensor technology from Fraunhofer IST, enabling automated real-time quality control in plastic injection molding. Fraunhofer IAPT will present collaborative robots aimed at automating production processes and facilitating additive manufacturing. The Fraunhofer alliance autoMOBILproduktion will offer "one-stop shop" solutions for plant, machine, and vehicle manufacturing.

Additional technologies on display include Fraunhofer IOF's rapid 3D acquisition of transparent objects and Fraunhofer IAIS's advanced AI solutions like "RobotLLM" and "GenAI Gateway," which facilitate human-robot interaction in industrial settings through AI-powered control.
