French Defense Agency Receives First Two Falcon Albatros Aircraft

The French Defense Procurement Agency (DGA) has taken delivery of the first two Falcon 2000LXS Albatros aircraft, equipped for maritime surveillance and intervention missions. This delivery marks the beginning of the AVSIMAR program (Maritime Surveillance and Intervention Aircraft), which aims to supply a total of twelve aircraft by 2031.

Dassault Aviation developed the aircraft in collaboration with several French companies, including Naval Group, Safran, and Thales. The program involves flight testing at Dassault Aviation's facility in Istres and conversion work at its Mérignac plant.

The Falcon Albatros is based on the Falcon 2000LXS business jet platform. It features a multi-role radar, an optronic turret, observation windows, and a search and rescue (SAR) dropping system. With a range of 7,400 km, the aircraft is designed for monitoring vast areas and conducting rapid, long-distance interventions.

Dassault Aviation has a long history in maritime surveillance aircraft, having supplied similar models to various coast guards and navies. The company's expertise also extends to carrier-based combat aircraft and maritime patrol planes, highlighting its broad capabilities in aviation for national defense and security.
