Frequentis and UAE's GCAA Announce Major Air Traffic Management Undertaking
Frequentis AG and the UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) have announced a significant collaboration to develop a new air traffic management system. The project aims to enhance aviation efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
Austrian air traffic management technology provider Frequentis AG has partnered with the United Arab Emirates' General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) on a major initiative to advance air traffic management (ATM). The collaboration focuses on the implementation of Trajectory-Based Operations (TBO), a key development for a more efficient and sustainable aviation sector.
The GCAA and Frequentis will jointly develop a Flight Information Validation and Exchange (FIV-X) system, which will serve as the foundation for TBO implementation. TBO aims to optimize flight planning and execution, leading to better airspace utilization, reduced fuel consumption, and lower emissions. This move positions the UAE as a frontrunner in ATM innovation.
Announced at the Dubai Airshow 2025, this undertaking is part of a broader global effort to modernize aviation infrastructure. Frequentis, specializing in communication and information systems for safety-critical applications, brings its technological expertise to the project.
