Fresenius completes full acquisition of mAbxience to bolster biosimilar platform

Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA has finalized the acquisition of the remaining 45% of mAbxience from Insud Pharma, completing its ownership of the biosimilar company. The transaction builds on a successful partnership established between the two entities in 2022.

This full ownership establishes a more robust platform aimed at enhancing quality and supply chain resilience. It is also intended to support future innovation and broaden patient access to high-quality biosimilars. mAbxience's biosimilar platform is now fully integrated into Fresenius Kabi's Biopharma business, encompassing the entire value chain from development and manufacturing to commercialization.

The move is positioned to strengthen the company's capacity to meet the rising demand for biosimilars, particularly as a significant wave of biologics lose market exclusivity. Fresenius Kabi aims to solidify its role as a key global supplier in the biopharmaceutical sector.

Jurgen van Broeck will continue as CEO of mAbxience, reporting to Dr. Sang-Jin Pak, President Biopharma at Fresenius. The company has stated its continued commitment to supporting existing customers and ensuring reliable supply.
