FRITZ! and industry partners establish SAFENet alliance
FRITZ! and other European technology firms have co-founded SAFENet to advance Europe's digital sovereignty in network technology.

BERLIN – FRITZ!, a prominent European router manufacturer, announced today its role as a founding member of the Sovereignty Alliance for European Network Technology (SAFENet). The alliance aims to bolster Europe's digital independence in network technologies.
SAFENet was established in response to the growing reliance on non-European suppliers for critical network technology components. Founding members alongside FRITZ! include devolo, LANCOM, and TDT. They highlight that routers are a critical part of the digital infrastructure, handling over 90 percent of Europe's internet traffic.
The alliance intends to increase transparency, promote the procurement of European-made products, and develop a security toolbox for European routers and network devices. The objective is to ensure Europe's ability to control its digital future.
"Independent and secure network technology is the basis for Europe's digital sovereignty," stated FRITZ! CEO Jan Oetjen. He emphasized that SAFENet provides a platform for European manufacturers to showcase their sovereign, trustworthy technology solutions and contribute to securing Europe's digital infrastructure long-term.
