FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro gets Matter support via new FRITZ! Labor version
FRITZ! GmbH has released a new FRITZ! Labor version for its FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro, offering preliminary support for the Matter smart home standard.

FRITZ! GmbH has launched a new FRITZ! Labor version for its FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro router. This update prepares the device to function as a Matter bridge, enabling the integration of FRITZ! and third-party smart home devices into the new standard.
The new software, serving as a preparation for the upcoming FRITZ!OS 8.50 release, allows users to test Matter compatibility. This feature is currently available through the FRITZ! Labor program and aims to enhance interoperability among various smart home devices.
The Matter support in the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro enables FRITZ! smart devices and compatible smart home devices from other manufacturers to be integrated into existing Matter networks. This expands control possibilities through popular platforms like Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa.
FRITZ! previously offered Matter connectivity via its FRITZ!Smart Gateway. The new laboratory version provides an additional avenue for connecting FRITZ! products to the Matter ecosystem directly through the FRITZ!Box, reinforcing the company's commitment to open standards and device interoperability.
