From Customer to CEO: Nico Varano Leads Over 100 SweatHouz Studios
Nico Varano transitioned from private equity to lead SweatHouz after first becoming a customer and then a franchisee. He now oversees more than 100 studios.

Nico Varano has taken on the role of CEO for SweatHouz, overseeing a network of over 100 studios. His journey into leadership began after experiencing the business model first as a customer and then as a franchisee.
Varano, previously involved in private equity, identified the business potential in SweatHouz's concept: a 60-minute session in a private suite featuring an infrared sauna, cold plunge, and vitamin C shower. He recognized advantages such as recurring revenue, a small operational footprint, and reduced staff management needs.
He became the brand's inaugural franchisee, establishing eight studios in Boston. These locations have consistently ranked among the system's top performers in terms of revenue per member and customer retention. From this operational role, Varano moved to the company's board, which he states provided crucial insight into the entire system.
Continuing to own and operate his original Boston studios, Varano believes the core competitive advantage lies not in the individual amenities like saunas or cold plunges, which are replicable, but in the overall business structure and model.
