Frontier Airlines reports 71% surge in per-passenger fare revenue
Frontier Airlines posted record revenue for the third quarter as higher ticket prices failed to dampen passenger demand.

Frontier Airlines reported a 71% increase in per-passenger fare revenue during the third quarter, with average ticket prices rising from $39.74 to $67.82. Total revenue reached a record $1.4 billion, a 53% increase year-over-year, as the carrier expanded its passenger count to 9.81 million, up 18% from the same period in 2025.
CEO Jimmy Dempsey stated that the company’s financial performance exceeded Wall Street estimates despite sustained pressure from high jet fuel costs. Frontier has notably benefited from the market exit of its low-cost competitor, Spirit Airlines, which has reduced price-based competition in the domestic sector.
The broader U.S. aviation industry has largely responded to volatile fuel prices by passing costs directly to consumers, with airfares rising significantly faster than general consumer prices this year. Frontier’s ability to grow both passenger volume and unit revenue reflects a wider trend among major carriers prioritizing margin recovery over discounted fare strategies.
