Fugitive caught after 20 years hiding as biotech executive
A fugitive wanted for over 20 years, who allegedly operated as a biotech executive under an alias, has been apprehended in New York.
One of Rhode Island's most-wanted fugitives was arrested in New York last week, concluding a 20-year period on the run. During this time, the individual reportedly hid his identity by working as a biotech executive, according to Stat News.
Immix Biopharma, a California-based company, announced in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Monday that Richard Graydon, the name used by the individual at the company, was terminated on Friday. The company stated the reasons for termination were "unrelated to his activities at the Company."
However, it was revealed that Richard Graydon was an alias for Ronald Fischer, a 70-year-old former anesthesiologist licensed in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Fischer fled in 2005 while on trial for first-degree sexual assault charges. He was accused of raping a woman during a date aboard his yacht, the Lion King.
Authorities involved in the pursuit confirmed the arrest and the deactivation of Fischer's alias. The investigation into his activities during his time as an executive is ongoing.
