Fujifilm to Build Semiconductor Materials Plant in India with Tata Electronics
Fujifilm and Tata Electronics have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop and supply semiconductor materials for a new facility in India. Fujifilm will also invest significantly in local production.
Fujifilm has announced an expansion of its collaboration with Tata Electronics through a newly signed memorandum of understanding. The companies will develop and supply advanced semiconductor materials for Tata Electronics' planned commercial wafer fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat, India.
To support this venture, Fujifilm plans a strategic investment of 8 billion Indian rupees (approximately $6.7 million USD). This funding will facilitate a phased establishment of a semiconductor materials manufacturing plant in Dholera. The objective is to ensure a seamless and robust supply chain for these critical materials, specifically catering to Tata Electronics' needs.
The collaboration aims to enhance the resilience of India's supply chain by fostering the local development and production of key raw materials essential for semiconductor manufacturing. Fujifilm will contribute its expertise in technology, quality assurance, and manufacturing processes to the initiative.
This partnership is expected to benefit India's chemical manufacturing sector by providing the necessary technical knowledge and support for producing high-purity chemicals. The move aligns with broader efforts to boost India's self-sufficiency in critical technology industries.
