Fujifilm to Surpass Nikon in Global Digital Camera Shipments by 2025, Report Says
A new industry report forecasts Fujifilm will overtake Nikon to become the third-largest global supplier of digital cameras by shipments in 2025.
Fujifilm is projected to surpass Nikon in global digital camera shipments by 2025, according to the Nikkei Industry Map 2027 report. This shift would move Fujifilm into the third position in market share, a place previously held by Nikon.
The report estimates Fujifilm will capture 11.8% of the market, shipping 1.16 million units in 2025. Nikon's share is expected to decrease to 8.9%, with 880,000 units shipped. This change indicates a significant dynamic shift in the competitive landscape of the digital camera industry.
Canon is predicted to maintain its leading position, holding 45.7% of the market with 4.5 million shipments, while Sony is expected to remain in second place with 24.6% and 2.42 million units. Both Canon and Sony are projected to increase their market share from 2024 levels.
The report also notes shifts among other manufacturers, including Panasonic, Ricoh Imaging, and OM System. These changes reflect the broader industry trend where advancements in smartphone cameras continue to challenge dedicated camera makers, pushing established brands to focus on specialized and premium market segments.
