Fujitsu Implements Store Monitoring Solution for METRO Inc. in Canada
Fujitsu has deployed its active process monitoring solution across METRO Inc.'s 500 stores in Canada. The system aims to enhance operational efficiency and policy compliance by analyzing store transactions and video data.

Fujitsu announced on July 4, 2025, its successful deployment of an active process monitoring solution for Canadian grocery retailer METRO Inc. The cloud-based offering, utilizing Fujitsu's Advanced Operation & Management technology, will oversee operations in METRO's 500 stores, which include the Metro, Super C, and Food Basics banners.
The implementation followed a pilot phase in February 2025 and a staggered rollout that began in April 2025. The solution provides continuous oversight of store transactions and aims to offer immediate insights into potential thefts, fraud, policy breaches, and operational inefficiencies.
By integrating multiple data sources such as transaction data, loyalty program information, and security camera footage, the system creates a comprehensive view of store operations. The company stated that compliance checks using video footage are now significantly faster. The solution is hosted in Canada and available in both English and French.
Fujitsu indicated that the solution, which has been co-developed with German retailers, already monitors between 7,000-8,000 stores globally. METRO Inc. is the first Canadian client for this particular Fujitsu offering. Early results from the pilot phase in 20 stores showed promise in identifying losses within the first week of operation.
