Fundamentum Frontier Advisors Closes First Tranche of ₹3,000 Cr Deeptech Fund

Fundamentum Frontier Advisors (F2A), a new venture capital firm founded by Ashish Kumar, has secured the first close of its growth-stage fund focused on artificial intelligence and deep technology at ₹3,000 crore (approximately $360 million USD). F2A announced that strong investor demand has led to plans to increase the fund's total size to ₹3,500 crore.

The fund, established by Kumar who previously co-founded Fundamentum, aims to invest in Indian companies within the deeptech and AI sectors at their early growth stages. F2A intends to deploy its capital across 12 to 15 companies over the next two to three years, making investments ranging from ₹100 crore to ₹200 crore per company. The firm stated it is in advanced discussions to finalize three new investments within the upcoming quarter.

"More Indian companies are now building deeptech products for global markets, with India as their engineering and commercial base," said Debraj Banerjee, General Partner at F2A. "Having worked with such companies from their early years, I have seen how much the right capital matters once the technology is validated and customers start to scale. We believe that is the stage at which F2A can help them become category leaders."

The fund's strategy centers on three key areas: consumer businesses leveraging AI and frontier technologies, enterprise software, and deeptech infrastructure and engineered systems. Target companies will be India-domiciled and generate revenue both domestically and globally. The General Partners at F2A are Ashish Kumar, Debraj Banerjee, and Vivek Singla. Notable anchor investor for the fund is Nandan Nilekani, a prominent figure in Indian technology and former General Partner at Fundamentum.

The deeptech sector has emerged as a favored investment area. According to Inc42's Indian Tech Startup Funding Report, funding for the sector nearly tripled to $290 million in the quarter ending September 2026. F2A's fund represents one of the largest dedicated to deeptech in India, reflecting a growing trend in venture capital allocation.
