Developer Pigeons at Play has announced that its cooperative first-person shooter, Fungalpunk, will end its early access period on October 20, 2025. On this date, the game will be officially released for PlayStation 5 and PC. The developers also confirmed that Fungalpunk will be added to the PlayStation Plus game catalog on its launch day.
Fungalpunk is described as a mission-driven cooperative FPS. The game was initially released in early access on PC on July 10, 2025. Players take on the role of the New Atlas Hazard Crew, a team of robots employed by the company SAXON. Their mission is to travel to planet surfaces to clear out deadly fungi and investigate a fungal catastrophe plaguing the planet. Each team member possesses unique equipment, and successful combat relies on teamwork.
The game features a variety of futuristic weapons and electric tools that players can upgrade using a grid-based system. Enhanced abilities and customized weapons can be combined to create different cooperative playstyles. The game also allows for friendly fire, meaning players can harm their teammates.
Enemies in the game can infect and convert the planet's technology into weapons against the players. Players can dismantle enemy components, but downed parts may be recovered by other enemies, posing a renewed threat. Between missions, the crew can return to their orbital transport ship, which includes toys and mini-games for relaxation with friends, or engage with SAXON's veteran insect Roachard Cox to learn more about the game's universe.
