Fuse Oncology and AMP Pilot Radiation Oncology Workflow
Fuse Oncology and Associated Medical Professionals of NY (AMP) have launched a proof-of-concept test for a radiation oncology workflow platform in Syracuse, aiming to streamline prostate cancer treatment.
Associated Medical Professionals of NY (AMP), an affiliate of U.S. Urology Partners, is conducting a proof-of-concept trial of Fuse Oncology's FuseRx platform for radiation oncology workflows at its Center of Advanced Radiation Excellence in Syracuse. The collaboration focuses on creating a unified, end-to-end process from treatment planning to delivery, specifically for prostate cancer care.
The initiative aims to integrate the patient's entire care journey within urology and radiation oncology, from diagnosis and consultation through to treatment. AMP intends for a single system to manage this process, enhancing efficiency and consistency as physicians, physicists, and dosimetrists work from a shared plan. This addresses the common practice of urology groups bringing radiation oncology services in-house.
The FuseRx platform is designed to integrate with existing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and oncology information systems. The initial phase of the proof-of-concept will focus on the physician consult workflow, incorporating clinical pathways from the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) at the point of decision-making. The workflow is planned to expand to cover all aspects of radiation oncology treatment in the coming months.
Led by Dr. Steven E. Finkelstein, National Director of the Center of Advanced Radiation Excellence at AMP, the trial is expected to yield insights into optimizing radiation oncology workflows within independent urology practices, which play a significant role in treating prostate cancer.
