GAC Group Begins Local Production at New Cambodia Factory
GAC Group has officially commenced production at its new KD factory in Cambodia, established in partnership with TH Group. This marks a shift from vehicle export to local manufacturing in the country.
GAC Group announced the commencement of operations at its new KD factory in Cambodia, a joint venture with TH Group. This development signifies GAC's strategic transition in the Cambodian market, moving from exporting complete vehicles to establishing local manufacturing capabilities.
The factory operates on a model where GAC supplies complete vehicle kits and technical standards, with TH Group managing the factory's investment, construction, and vehicle assembly. The facility is planned to achieve an annual production capacity of 10,000 units, assembling popular models such as Ying Su, Ying Ku, GS8, and GN8.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted the factory's role in the nation's industrial transformation. He stated that the GAC KD factory's launch is a significant achievement in the government's efforts to upgrade Cambodia's industrial base from labor-intensive to capital- and technology-driven sectors. The project is expected to boost local industries and enhance the national economy's added value.
GAC intends to align its product offerings with Cambodian consumer trends, planning to introduce a diverse range of both internal combustion engine and new energy vehicles. The company also aims to establish a comprehensive offline sales network covering key Cambodian cities, including Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Battambang.
