GAC Group's GOVY AirCab Flying Car Completes Summer Testing
GAC Group's first production-ready multi-rotor flying car, GOVY AirCab, has successfully completed over three months of summer testing in challenging arid and hot conditions in China.

Chinese automaker GAC Group has concluded its summer testing phase for the GOVY AirCab flying car. The extensive trials, lasting over three months in Minqin, Gansu province, focused on the vehicle's performance in extreme weather, including temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius, high altitudes, and severe wind and sandstorms.
The GOVY AirCab underwent more than 500 flight tests and over 100 test items. The flight program included long-range automated route flights exceeding 30 kilometers, assessing the vehicle's autonomous navigation, stable flight, and precise landing capabilities in high-altitude and hot environments. Tests also evaluated the vehicle's response to strong crosswinds of up to 13 m/s while maintaining a forward speed of 18 m/s.
The aircraft's thermal management system, cooling efficiency, component sealing, and sensor performance were continuously tested under combined conditions of over 50°C heat, low pressure, and sandstorms. GAC Group reported stable operation across all tested extreme environments, validating its environmental adaptability. The vehicle utilizes over 90% carbon fiber composite materials, reducing its weight by more than 30%.
First unveiled in late May, the GOVY AirCab's completion of these tests marks its entry into industrial production, airworthiness certification, and commercialization. Priced under 1.68 million yuan (approximately $230,000 USD), it is designed for low-altitude tourism and travel. The flying car supports L4 autonomous driving and features a two-seat configuration.
