GAC Group's Quark electric drive technology has received the Gold Medal with the Jury's Congratulations at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva. The award recognizes advancements in electric vehicle propulsion efficiency.
GAC Group's Quark electric drive technology has been honored with the Gold Medal with the Jury's Congratulations at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva. This top distinction, awarded among Gold Medal winners with unanimous jury approval, recognizes the project 'Key Precision Manufacturing Technologies and Applications for Low-Loss Stator Cores Based on Ultra-Thin Amorphous Materials'.
The technology incorporates ultra-thin amorphous material into the motor's stator core to reduce energy loss. GAC states this redirects more power towards vehicle propulsion. The Quark Electric Drive 2.0 motor achieves a peak efficiency of 99.03%, with the overall electric drive system reaching a CLTC operational efficiency of 94.184%.
According to GAC, this efficiency improvement can extend an electric vehicle's range by 30 to 50 kilometers on the same battery capacity. The technology has been initially applied to models for the Chinese market, including the AION N60, AION RT, and AION i60. GAC intends to expand its application to more models as production scales.
