GalaxEye Acquires StarOps to Expand Satellite Engineering Capabilities

Space technology startup GalaxEye has acquired Bengaluru-based spacecraft engineering company StarOps in a move to strengthen its in-house satellite engineering expertise. The acquisition is intended to enhance GalaxEye's vertical integration in space technology development.

The integration brings StarOps' portfolio of indigenous spacecraft technologies to GalaxEye, including qualified satellite bus platforms across 50 kg, 150 kg, and 250 kg classes. It also includes proprietary subsystem technologies, qualification heritage, testing infrastructure, and engineering tools. StarOps' technologies, which boast over 66% indigenization, aim to reduce reliance on global supply chains, enabling faster development cycles and lower mission costs.

GalaxEye CEO and co-founder Suyash Singh stated that the company's founding vision was to build technologies defining the future of space, and that the acquisition of StarOps represents a significant milestone in that pursuit. He indicated that StarOps' engineering legacy would continue within GalaxEye.

GalaxEye, incubated at IIT Madras, is developing earth observation capabilities through its proprietary OptoSAR technology, which combines synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and optical imaging for high-resolution geospatial intelligence. The company plans to launch two new OptoSAR satellites within the next 24 months and is expanding its internal capabilities to improve quality, reliability, and execution.
