GalaxEye Secures US Patent for Satellite Imaging Technology
Indian spacetech startup GalaxEye has received a US patent for its advanced satellite imaging technology, reinforcing its intellectual property after securing similar protection in India.

Indian spacetech startup GalaxEye has been granted a US patent for its proprietary satellite imaging technology. The patent covers the core architecture of its OptoSAR technology, which enables the simultaneous collection of earth observation data by synchronizing optical and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) sensors from a single satellite, capable of operating day and night and in various weather conditions.
This patented technology is intended to serve global markets by providing weather-agnostic imaging capabilities across sectors including defense, agriculture, insurance, and disaster response. GalaxEye founder and CEO Suyash Singh stated the patent allows the company to tap into global markets and offer reliable imaging regardless of environmental factors.
The patent award follows the recent launch of GalaxEye's first satellite, Mission Drishti, in May. While communication with Drishti was lost in July due to an anomaly linked to a geomagnetic solar storm, its brief operational period successfully validated key technologies and operational processes required for advanced space systems.
GalaxEye plans to launch two new OptoSAR satellites within the next two years and aims to scale to a 30-satellite constellation over five years. The company has raised significant funding to support its expansion and technological development.
