The Galien Foundation has selected former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to receive the 2026 Roy Vagelos Pro Bono Humanum Award.

The Galien Foundation will present the 2026 Roy Vagelos Pro Bono Humanum Award to former U.S. Secretary of State and Climate Envoy John Kerry. The ceremony is scheduled for October 29, 2026, in New York City as part of the annual Prix Galien USA event.
The award recognizes Kerry’s efforts to address the intersection of climate change and public health. Throughout his recent tenure as a special presidential envoy, Kerry emphasized the necessity of climate policy in preventing large-scale health crises and addressing global health inequities.
The Pro Bono Humanum award is presented annually by the foundation to individuals who have made significant contributions to human health and welfare. The selection highlights the increasing institutional emphasis on environmental factors as core components of international health equity.
