Gaming Startup Funding Edges Up in 2026
Global funding for gaming-related startups saw a modest increase in the first half of 2026. Companies in the sector have collectively raised approximately $2 billion so far this year.

Investment in global gaming-related startups has shown a slight increase in 2026, recovering from a multi-year low in the previous year. So far this year, companies within the gaming sector have collectively raised approximately $2 billion in seed- to growth-stage funding. This figure already surpasses the total funding for the entirety of 2025, with a significant contribution from large funding rounds involving companies at the intersection of artificial intelligence and gaming.
Several substantial funding rounds have disproportionately contributed to the year's total. Meshy AI, a Sunnyvale, California-based developer of foundation models for AI-powered 3D generation, secured the largest investment, raising $400 million in a Series B round in July. While not exclusively a gaming company, Meshy identifies gaming as a primary use case for its 3D AI technology.
Decart, an Israel-based company that develops a platform for training AI models, also attracted significant investment, raising $300 million. Decart's offerings include video simulation technology, which is being presented as a valuable tool for game development.
Pure-play gaming startups also featured among the top fundraisers. Nex, a developer of motion-based family games, closed a $150 million round, and Turkish mobile gaming company Grand Games raised $70 million in May.
Gaming-focused venture capital firms are also attracting new capital. Makers Fund in San Francisco raised $250 million for its fourth flagship fund. Additionally, Griffin Gaming Partners announced a new $100 million fund specifically for indie games. While overall funding levels for gaming startups remain below historical peaks, the year-over-year gains in 2026 suggest a potential upward trend in the market.
