Gan Jing World (GJW), a U.S.-based streaming platform, is set to launch its first original animated series, "Monkey King Adventures," worldwide on October 2, 2026. The series will be available on its premium streaming service GJW+ and its child-friendly platform, Gan Jing Kids.
"Monkey King Adventures" is a multi-season fantasy-adventure series adapted from the 16th-century Chinese classic "Journey to the West." The first season, titled "Monkey King Adventures: The Rise of the King," follows the journey of Sun Wukong, a young monkey born from a magical stone, as he gains powers and battles mythical creatures.
Producers state the series remains faithful to the original story's spirit while reimagining it as an accessible and engaging adventure for children globally. "We want children everywhere to fall in love again with a story that has captivated families for generations," said Sherry Yin, CEO of Gan Jing World. Series director Jian Lun Lu added that the goal is to bring families together through shared adventure and laughter.
The initial season comprises twelve 10-minute episodes. The first two episodes will be available for free, with subsequent episodes released weekly via a GJW+ subscription. This subscription also grants full access to Gan Jing Kids.
