Gan & Lee and Menarini Group partner on bofanglutide development in Europe

Gan & Lee Pharmaceuticals, a China-based biopharmaceutical company, has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with The Menarini Group, a multinational biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Italy. The deal focuses on the development and commercialization of Gan & Lee’s drug candidate, bofanglutide, within the European market.

Under the terms of the agreement, Gan & Lee will continue to contribute to the development and regulatory filing processes for bofanglutide in Europe. The specific financial terms of the deal, including upfront payments and potential royalties, were not disclosed by the companies.

Bofanglutide is a long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist that Gan & Lee is developing for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. The company has completed Phase II clinical trials in China and is currently conducting Phase III trials. Menarini will assume responsibility for the future clinical development, regulatory submissions, and commercialization of the drug across Europe.

This partnership aims to leverage Menarini's established presence and expertise in the European pharmaceutical market to advance the therapeutic potential of bofanglutide. Gan & Lee continues to focus on its pipeline of novel drug candidates, while Menarini expands its portfolio in metabolic diseases.
