Gap Partners with Boy Band to Cultivate Customer Fandom
Gap Inc. has announced a multiyear partnership with emerging boy band Just Your Type (JYT). The company aims to build a strong customer following through music and original content, a strategy intended to foster loyalty beyond discounts.

Gap Inc. has entered into a multiyear partnership with the five-member boy band Just Your Type (JYT). The agreement encompasses a clothing collection and a national mall tour featuring live performances by the band.
This initiative marks the debut of Gap's "Fashiontainment" platform, spearheaded by Pam Kaufman, the company's first Chief Entertainment Officer. The strategy involves creating original content centered around JYT, documenting their journey and integrating Gap into their narrative to cultivate a dedicated fan base.
The move signals a shift from relying solely on discounts to build customer loyalty. In its most recent fiscal quarter, Gap Inc.'s overall comparable sales declined by 1 percent, with Old Navy down 4 percent and Athleta down 12 percent. The core Gap brand, however, saw a 10 percent increase, which the company attributed to "culturally relevant storytelling."
Gap previously saw success with its "Better in Denim" campaign in 2025, featuring the girl group KATSEYE. This campaign reportedly generated over 8 billion impressions and drove double-digit growth in denim sales, demonstrating the potential of artist collaborations to boost brand engagement and product performance.
