Gareth Parker-Jones, a prominent figure in UK education, has been appointed Founding Head and Director of Studies for Wellington College International Kenya, located in Tatu City. He will commence his duties in September 2027, a year ahead of the school's official opening in September 2028.
Parker-Jones joins Wellington from the UK, where he served as Headmaster of Rugby School. His wife, Amanda Parker-Jones, has also joined the school as Head of Teacher Training.
Wellington Kenya is a collaborative project between Rendeavour and the Wellington College Education group. It marks the second Wellington school in Africa, alongside the one in Lagos. The institution will offer both day and boarding education for students aged 3 to 18, aiming to provide a British-style elite education on the African continent.
The school's location in Tatu City, Africa's first purpose-built new city, provides an environment that leverages Kenya's natural landscapes and cultural richness. Tatu City's development plan includes parks and green spaces intended to support the school's educational and recreational activities.
