Gareth Parker-Jones has been appointed as the Founding Master of Wellington College International Kenya and Head of Education for Rendeavour. He is set to begin his tenure in September 2027, a year ahead of the school's official opening in September 2028. Parker-Jones joins from Rugby School, where he served as Headmaster.
Wellington College International Kenya is being established in Tatu City, a new urban development in Africa. The school will cater to pupils aged 3 to 18 and will be the second Wellington College institution in Africa, alongside Wellington College International Lagos. The school is expected to attract students from local, regional, and international families.
Parker-Jones's appointment highlights the school's ambitions, particularly its focus on boarding facilities. His wife, Amanda Parker-Jones, has also been appointed as Head of Teacher Development for the school. Rendeavour, a developer of new cities in Africa, is a partner with Wellington College in this educational venture.
The school aims to provide a high-quality British education combined with a strong local identity, meeting the needs of families in the region without requiring them to seek education abroad. Tatu City provides a unique setting for the school, featuring extensive green spaces and natural surroundings.
