Garmin (NYSE: GRMN) has announced AXIS™, a new family of integrated flight display systems from its headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. The system is designed to consolidate multiple avionics functions into a single display unit, targeting certified, experimental, and Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) categories under the MOSAIC regulations.
The AXIS system integrates the flight display, IFR GPS, NAV/COMM radio, and audio panel capabilities onto one screen. This aims to reduce the number of components in the aircraft cockpit and simplify the pilot's interface. The solution is expected to offer significant space and weight savings, particularly for smaller aircraft.
Garmin states this is the first system of its kind to offer such comprehensive integration within a single display for aircraft manufacturers. The company anticipates that the AXIS system will enhance the user experience and improve flight safety.
