Energy company Gasum has opened a new liquefied biogas (LBG) filling station in Ylivieska, located in the Ostrobothnia region of Finland. The station is exclusively for heavy-duty vehicles and is situated at Ouluntie 25, at an intersection of several key transport routes.
The Ylivieska station's location was selected to meet the needs of the logistics sector, being positioned along major national transport routes. The area also includes freight hubs, such as the terminal operated by logistics company DSV.
Logistics firm DSV utilizes biogas-powered vehicles in Finland to reduce transport emissions. Petteri Nurmi, CEO of DSV Road Oy in Finland, stated the new Ylivieska station is significant as DSV plans to base a new biogas vehicle there. DSV currently operates 26 vehicles running on LBG and three on compressed biogas in Finland.
Biogas offers an effective way for logistics companies to provide low-emission transport over long distances. Gasum is expanding its biogas filling station network and investing in increasing biogas supply to meet growing demand in both road and maritime logistics.
