Gasum secures Nordic LNG supply via European network

Helsinki – Energy company Gasum has established a comprehensive liquefied natural gas (LNG) value chain to serve Nordic markets. The company aims to secure stable energy deliveries to industrial, shipping, and transportation companies by leveraging multiple European LNG sourcing partners.

Gasum delivers LNG to all customers from its European sources and its liquefaction plant in Risavika, Norway. LNG from Risavika is supplied to Gasum's local terminals in Norway, Sweden, and Finland via chartered vessels. From these terminals, LNG is delivered by truck to industrial customers with their own terminals, or via local gas grids as natural gas to nearby industrial facilities.

For maritime customers, Gasum offers LNG deliveries through truck-to-ship, terminal-to-ship, or ship-to-ship bunkering. The company has a long-term tolling agreement with North Sea Midstream Partners, securing deliveries of both LNG and liquefied biogas (LBG) from the Risavika plant.

LNG is recognized as the most viable alternative fuel for reducing emissions in industry, maritime, and road transport. LNG is interchangeable with renewable LBG, as both primarily consist of methane. Gasum states that the use of both LNG and LBG represents a concrete step towards a low-carbon society.

The company identifies itself as the leading LNG and LBG supplier in the Nordic region and intends to expand its operations into continental Northern Europe by offering emission-reducing solutions to industry players.
