Gates Industrial Launches Poly Chain Carbon ONE Belt for Industrial Markets
Gates Industrial Corporation has introduced Poly Chain Carbon ONE, a synchronous belt designed to replace traditional roller-chain drives in various industrial applications.

Gates Industrial Corporation announced the release of Poly Chain Carbon ONE, a new synchronous belt aimed at expanding its power transmission portfolio. The product is designed to facilitate the transition from traditional roller-chain systems to belt technology in industrial settings, including packaging, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing sectors.
The company claims the new belt addresses common barriers to conversion, such as upfront costs, while offering reduced maintenance requirements. According to Gates, the belt eliminates the need for lubrication and retensioning, potentially lowering the total cost of ownership for end-users.
"Poly Chain Carbon ONE gives machine builders greater design flexibility and a more competitive drive-system cost," said Mike Haen, vice president of global product line management and marketing at Gates. The belt is reported to be up to 97% lighter than equivalent roller-chain drives and 15% narrower than previous Gates models.
Gates is currently working with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to incorporate the technology into future machinery designs. Availability will begin in North America, with a planned global rollout scheduled throughout 2027.
