GEARWRENCH Launches New Hand Tools for Linemen

COCKEYSVILLE, Md. – GEARWRENCH is expanding into the power and utility sector with the launch of more than 50 new hand tools engineered for power transmission and distribution professionals. Developed alongside working linemen and validated through months of field testing, the lineup is designed to address the daily challenges faced by utility crews.

The new tool line spans five product categories, aiming to enhance safety and efficiency for tasks performed underground, on the ground, or overhead. The increasing demand for specialized tools comes as utilities face pressure to expand capacity and strengthen aging infrastructure.

GEARWRENCH notes that while safety requirements and jobsite practices have advanced, many tools used in the industry have remained largely unchanged. Backed by over 30 years of hand tool innovation, the company developed the Power & Utility lineup to provide solutions for modern linework.

The tools feature elements such as oversized controls and glove-friendly designs, alongside safety mechanisms. Specific features include nut stop socket designs for secure operation and IEC 60900 insulated grips for work on energized connections. Hundreds of linemen participated in product testing to ensure the tools meet current utility standards.
