Gedeon Richter introduces Fluomysin with deQualinium chloride for vaginal infections

Hungarian pharmaceutical company Gedeon Richter Plc. has introduced Fluomysin, a new vaginal tablet featuring the active ingredient deQualinium chloride. The drug is designed to combat a broad spectrum of microorganisms.

Fluomysin is indicated for the treatment of bacterial vaginosis, trichomonas vaginitis, and candidal vaginitis. It is also used for vaginal preparation prior to gynecological procedures or childbirth. The medication is administered locally within the vagina.

Dequalinium chloride functions as a quaternary ammonium compound and exhibits antimicrobial activity against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as fungi and protozoa. Systemic absorption is minimal, with metabolism and excretion primarily occurring via the kidneys.

Use is not recommended before the onset of sexual activity. The medication can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The typical treatment course involves one vaginal tablet daily for seven days, preferably inserted at bedtime.
