Gedeon Richter Introduces New Contraceptive Pill
Gedeon Richter Plc. has launched a new combined oral contraceptive pill, Estra. The medication contains dosirenone and estriol and is intended for contraception in adult women.

Budapest – Gedeon Richter Plc. has introduced a new combined oral contraceptive pill for women. The medication, branded Estra, is indicated for the prevention of pregnancy in adult women aged 18 and over.
Estra combines the active ingredients dosirenone, a progestogen, and estriol, an estrogen. This type of combined oral contraceptive (COC) works primarily by suppressing ovulation and altering cervical mucus and the endometrium. COCs are considered highly effective when used correctly, though they carry a small increased risk of blood clots, particularly in the first year of use or after extended breaks.
The company notes that the product is subject to additional monitoring, a common practice for newer medications to track safety data. Patients are advised to report any adverse reactions experienced while using the drug to their healthcare provider.
"The addition of Estra to our portfolio reinforces our commitment to women's health," stated CEO Anna Nagy. "We believe this new option provides a reliable contraceptive choice for women."
