Gedeon Richter launches Klion-D 100 vaginal tablets
Gedeon Richter Plc. has launched Klion-D 100, a new vaginal tablet containing metronidazole and miconazole, indicated for mixed bacterial and fungal vaginal infections.
Gedeon Richter Plc., a pharmaceutical company based in Hungary, has introduced Klion-D 100 to the market. This new medication consists of vaginal tablets formulated with metronidazole and miconazole as active ingredients.
The product is intended for the local treatment of vaginitis of mixed etiology in adults, children, and adolescents aged 12 years and older. It functions as an antimicrobial, antiprotozoal, and antifungal agent.
Metronidazole targets anaerobic microorganisms and protozoa by inhibiting nucleic acid synthesis, while miconazole acts as an antifungal agent, primarily against Candida albicans. Miconazole does not alter the vaginal microflora or pH balance.
Contraindications include hypersensitivity to the active ingredients, organic central nervous system disorders, and the first trimester of pregnancy. Caution is advised for patients with severe liver impairment or Cockayne syndrome due to risks of hepatotoxicity. Prolonged use requires monitoring of blood counts and potential neurological side effects.
