Gedeon Richter Launches New Medication for High Blood Pressure
Gedeon Richter Plc. has introduced Bidopp®Kor, a medication containing bisoprolol for the treatment of high blood pressure.

Hungarian pharmaceutical company Gedeon Richter Plc. has launched Bidopp®Kor, a new medication intended for the treatment of high blood pressure. The drug contains bisoprolol as its active ingredient, which is a selective beta-blocker.
Bidopp®Kor is presented as white, oblong tablets that can be divided into equal doses. The medication works by reducing heart rate and contractility, thereby lowering blood pressure. It has also been shown to decrease the heart muscle's oxygen demand and reduce plasma renin activity.
The efficacy of bisoprolol stems from its ability to block beta1-adrenergic receptors in the heart. Its action is primarily cardioselective, with less impact on other organs such as the bronchi or metabolism compared to non-selective beta-blockers.
The drug is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, with peak plasma concentrations reached within 2–3 hours. A significant portion is excreted unchanged by the kidneys, with the remainder metabolized in the liver into inactive compounds. Each tablet contains 2.5 mg of bisoprolol fumarate.
