Gedeon Richter Plc. has introduced Zafrilla, a new medication for the treatment of endometriosis. Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, typically in the pelvic region.
The Zafrilla tablets contain the active substance dienogest, a progestagen. Daily intake of the tablets aims to reduce or eliminate symptoms of endometriosis, such as pelvic pain, painful or irregular menstruation, and potential fertility issues.
The medication is approved for adult women and for adolescent girls aged 12 to 18 years after the onset of menstruation. It is not to be used during pregnancy, and pregnancy must be ruled out before starting treatment.
Gedeon Richter is a Hungarian pharmaceutical company focused on women's health and central nervous system therapies, with over a century of international operation.
