Gedeon Richter Plc. has launched Bromocriptine-Richter, a medication containing bromocriptine as its active substance. The drug is intended for the treatment of various medical conditions.
Hungarian pharmaceutical company Gedeon Richter Plc. has introduced Bromocriptine-Richter, a new medicinal product containing bromocriptine. This drug falls into two categories: treatments for gynecological conditions and dopamine receptor agonists used in Parkinson's disease therapy.
The medication is indicated for adults, children, and adolescents aged 7 and above. Its applications include managing conditions caused by elevated prolactin levels, such as menstrual cycle disorders, female infertility, and certain pituitary gland tumors. Bromocriptine-Richter is also indicated for the treatment of acromegaly and Parkinson's disease.
The company notes that bromocriptine can be used in specific medical situations to suppress lactation post-childbirth, where medically indicated. However, it is not recommended for routine suppression of lactation or for alleviating postpartum breast engorgement.
Use of Bromocriptine-Richter involves several contraindications and precautions. These include uncontrolled hypertension, certain cardiovascular diseases, gastrointestinal bleeding, and severe psychiatric disorders. Potential drug interactions also exist. Gedeon Richter emphasizes that patients should consult their physician regarding potential side effects associated with the medication.
