Pharmaceutical company Gedeon Richter Plc. has introduced Peatilla®, a new medication containing cariprazine as its active ingredient. The drug is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia in adult patients, as well as for manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder in adults. It can also be used to treat depressive episodes in bipolar I disorder.

Peatilla® belongs to the class of antipsychotic medications. Patients are advised to read the patient information leaflet carefully and consult a healthcare professional if they experience any unusual symptoms. This includes any increase in suicidal thoughts or behavior, or signs of neuroleptic malignant syndrome, which require immediate medical attention.

The medication is contraindicated for individuals with known hypersensitivity to cariprazine or any of the excipients. It is also not intended for elderly patients with dementia. Patients should discuss their medical history, including any heart conditions, movement disorders, or risk factors for blood clots, with their doctor before starting treatment. The company advises that significant weight gain can occur, and weight management is recommended.
